Projects

On April 13th, 2024, ULIBAAA launched the “Light UpFendel” Project during the inauguration of Dr. Fatima Greaves-Kwekwe, as president of the Association. This initiative was in response to a dire need and request expressed by representatives of the University of Liberia (Mrs. Benetta Joko Tarr, VP/Administration, Dr. Beatrice Dahn, Dean/Medical College, and Mr. Norris Tweah, VP/University Relations) at the 7th National Convention on ULIBAAA, held in Providence, Rhode Island in 2023. The concern: security of students at the Medical College Pre-Clinical Campus on Fendel, primarily due to the lack of electricity.

The Project’s goal was to install 75 solar-powered lights along the walkways from the dormitories to the main educational building.

We are pleased to inform you that the project has been successfully completed, with 85 solar lights installed around the dormitories and walkways. The official turning over ceremony of the project to the UL Administration is underway.

During the 2024 National Convention, it was resolved that the Project be named "The Calvin T. Dwuye Light Up Project". Mr. Calvin Dwuye was a dedicated member of ULIBAAA and one of the key contributors and designers of the Light Up Project. He was actively involved in its launch, and unfortunately, passed before the project could commence. We are honored to name this project in his memory.

The official turning over ceremony will achieve several key objectives:

• Accountability – Demonstrating to our members that their contributions were used effectively.
• Commitment – Reinforcing ULIBAAA’s dedication to supporting the University’s mission.
• Motivation – Encouraging ongoing contributions from our members.
• Growth – Attracting new members to ULIBAAA’s cause.
• Impact – Showcasing the positive effects such initiatives have on students.
